Empower Me
Empower me program.
Our six week program is designed to help young people master a range of employability skills through discussions, small group activities, as well as independent application and reflection tasks.
The program runs in a professional space to allow networking with professionals who will be available to answer questions and provide feedback on their skills development.
The sessions will include:
Power Skills:
Socio-economic constraints often overshadow essential competencies like communication, collaboration, and self-management. In the sessions we develop these skills and learn about how to know where your strengths and weaknesses are.
Authentic Self:
The sessions utilise self reflection and collaborative activities to understand how to show up with your strengths and be your authentic self in the workplace. Our sessions run in a real office space where you can see how other do this.
Resilience:
Like Lawrence, our founder, you need resilience. What does resilience truly mean? This session unpacks the essence of resilience – it's not just about enduring but also knowing when to recharge and refocus. We'll explore real-life scenarios, helping you recognise resilience in action and how to cultivate it to thrive amidst life's challenge
Confidence Building:
Talented academic young people can find they encounter a hidden curriculum when they transition to the world of work. The unwritten rules of success, from networking to understanding available career paths are not always explicitly taught. We bring these into the program to allow you to go into new situations with confidence. In the program you build up a short presentation to share in the final session with the other participants and the host team.
Goal Setting:
Goal setting isn't just about dreaming; it's about making those dreams achievable. The sessions delves into creating smart, personalised goals that inspire and motivate you. Learn to map out your future with clarity and purpose, setting the foundation for a successful journey in both your career and personal growth.
Networking:
Most people find this challenging but it can unlock huge opportunities and doesn't have to be daunting. In the sessions you get the chance to build up experience in communicating with different people. You will be able to network with our host's team after developing a set of questions you can have ready for any networking situation
How can we develop power skills?
Non-technical skills that make the greatest difference in the workplace.
Skills related to leadership, teamwork, communication, productivity, and wellness are critical to every employee’s performance across sectors.
The skills gaps for graduates from LSEBs exist across all soft skills, most notably for communication, adaptability and critical thinking.
Power skills give employees the power to collaborate, communicate effectively and to lead.
